Last year I wrote a very detailed post on Vinayaka Chavithi. This year all of us went to the Omaha Ganesha Temple. The crowd was not heavy, and the rituals not as grand as I thought it would be, which was a disappointment. A enthusiastic devotee shoved hymn copies of “Om Jai Jagdish” in Hindi. Most of the crowd knew the tune, but didnt know the lyrics, and generally hummed along [Clear indication of south indian crowd]. The said same lady, later on belted out “Gajana Nayutam” in carnatic style, which was good.

We met quite a few acquaintances and friends at the temple. I do miss all the colony [block/neighbourhood] functions and idol display as seen in Hyderabad. Sheer crowd size helps in raising an event to a higher level :)

As per usual, there was quite some traffic to Chilligavva, based on google image search and “chavithi” tag search. Usually such visits end up in ‘borrowing’ the pictures I draw. So this year, I have attempted to put one up, after the fact :) Here is my humble contribution..
