Oh Man will these silly groups stop this once for all…

A local Hindu organisation in Chennai has lodged a police complaint against actress Shriya, who starred opposite Rajnikanth [Images] in the Tamil blockbuster, Sivaji-The Boss, objecting to the outfit (in the picture) worn by her during the 175th day celebration of the film.In a complaint, the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK) alleged that Shriya’s outfit had ‘offended Hindu culture,’ police said.

If there was one phrase about India that I would ban, it would be the use of “offended Hindu culture”. A close second would be the phrase “it was all there in the Vedas” It is always amusing to note that the target is always some rich glamorous actress who can pay them off. Its at times like this, that my aversion for organized groups hits an all time high.

What Hindu culture? Are these guys brave enough to ban all movies having superstar Rajni where the heroines are depicted in skimpy costumes that are contrary to Hindu culture? You would see the organization members actually drooling and queuing up. They would even defend the movie saying that the costumes are as close to temple sculptures [Read near naked] as possible and eulogise the dress designer.

The above is a still from the movie whose 175days was being celebrated. They should have banned the movie dont you think?

I really wish these celebrities would give newspaper ads saying that they will arrive in “Meenakshi”/”Parvathi”/”Kali” costumes for the event, and actually do so. The skin displayed would be higher, and they would have pleased all these factionists who are as voyeuristic as the next male. See win-win is also possible.

Being coy never helped a society grow, except to convey mixed messages and double standards. I really wish the film community would ban these groups and ask them to be dissolved. Where were these groups when prostitution and porn grew? Isn’t that a derogatory position for a woman of “Hindu Culture”? They didnt notice, as they were too busy soliciting!
