Writers Challenge
I’m bored and I need some inspiration so I’m throwing out a challenge. I want to see 200 words or less, on the best moment of your day. Tell it any way you want, first person, third person, from the point of view of a tree, I don’t care. Just show me the best moment of your day.
This was the challenge thrown to our writers group, by Sandra Brennan. here is my response, which I dont mind sharing.
Book of Miti
I am so excited. After playing my video game, and getting busted by the cops in that one [dont I just love it when I do! ], I ran excitedly to tell my mom about the incident. Oh. Oh. bad logic…. She had that self righteous look. Lecture time. While she ranted in her usual way, something about habit forming and not driving correctly, [NLP whatever that is.. I am getting good at this, pretending to listen and pickin up important words…], I started to think about what to do next. Now for the hard work.
"Mom does your hand pain"?
NO. Why?
I get closer to her, give her a hug and a kiss, and "I was wondering whether I could go to the pool?"
She had that amused smile, while I waited.. "Okay! Get your swim stuff.."
I was so excited. This was easy.. I ran off to get my noodle shaped float, the water gun, the snorkel. I waited till my mom got her stuff: a book, sunglasses, soda. She takes a long time.
"Mom Im gonna wait outside till you come."
"Okay!"
I’m so excited. I wanted to do this all morning… Aaha.. God I pray that she takes long..It had rained all morning, and the sand box is filled with water. I had a blast, jumping and splashing. I saw my mom coming out of the building. She yelled out that shes coming in from the main entrance of the pool. I took the shortcut and waited.

Book of MOM [Mother of Miti]
"What happened Miti? Why are you scowling?"
"Mom can lightning electrocute you in the pool?"
"Who said that?"
"Doug told me."
I did a quick rethink.. Yup it had rained with lightening streaks all morning. This is Nebraska, aka Tornado weather. Doug our handyman and I had a good rapport, plus he was a local. He must have been trying to protect Miti. I looked at the pool deck. Not a soul. I looked up. Ominious weather.
"I think he was telling the truth Miti. Lets go home."
"My pipe is in the water."
Oh his snorkel. "Get it then."
I then saw Miti trying to get his snorkel with his noodle float. Obviously the lightening story got to him.
"Miti can’t you reach out and get it" The snorkel was floating 1.5 feet from the edge.
"I can?"
"Um hmmh… You can! "
Snorkel retrieved, we came out the main entrance, when I saw Miti who was a little bit ahead, try to chop a plant. He was obviously disappointed with the pool outcome. I ended up hissing "Stop that! or I wont get you to the pool ever."
