US charities told to pay for terror

A court in Chicago has ordered a group of Islamic charities to pay $156m to the parents of David Boim, a US teenager killed by Hamas in the West Bank in 1996, report agencies.

After reading this news, I just wondered if the biggest nation in the world can have federal (central) laws to tackle disputes like this, why cannot the largest democracy in the world aka India, not have similar laws?

Can you imagine the implications of this kind of law in India? Bad MNCs can be made accountable (Carbide, Coke, Pepsi, Enron to name a few..)
